Academic Program Guide

Entrepreneurship: STEM Entrepreneurship

Academic Map (Effective Summer 2021 and after)

This map is a term-by-term sample course schedule. The milestones listed to the right of each term are designed to keep you on course to graduate in four years. The Sample Schedule serves as a general guideline to help you build a full schedule each term. The General Education and Elective courses must be selected to satisfy all area and multicultural requirements unless your program meets these requirements with major courses. Milestones are courses and special requirements necessary for timely progress to complete a major. Missing milestones will result in one of two types of map registration stops. The first level (Degree Map Off-track) is placed following grade posting if the student has missed a milestone (course and/or GPA) for the first time in the major. If a student is in non-compliance with milestones for two (2) consecutive semesters (excluding summers), a Major Change Required stop is placed on the student’s registration.

Students learn about entrepreneurial concepts from qualified faculty members as well as from entrepreneurs and small business owners and managers. Students learn first-hand what is needed to start a business venture, as well as consult with an ongoing small- business professional.

STEM Entrepreneurship is a limited-access major. To be admitted to the major, you must have completed at least 52 credit hours, have earned a “C minus” or better in the Admission Prerequisite Courses (MAC1105, ECO2013, ECO2023, any leadership course, and STA2023), and have the required overall GPA of a 2.70 or higher.

Students should apply in the spring semester of their sophomore year to start the process of being accepted into the entrepreneurship program the following fall. More information and the application form are available on the web at http://jimmorancollege.fsu.edu .

Students, including transfer students, must apply by February 1st, 2022, for the future Fall 2022 semester, and be committed to the 2-year curriculum (no courses are guaranteed to be offered in the summer). Admission criteria include academic achievement, evidence of prior entrepreneurial activity, and a compelling essay describing why you want to be an entrepreneur. Students must complete the admission requirements for this limited access program no later than the end of their second year in order to continue as a STEM Entrepreneurship major.

Students should complete multicultural (x/y) requirements through their General Education coursework.
